Whether anyone cares or not, I have taken up the task of trying to fix or heal this schism. In my mind, we are all still members of the same unit, still family. Like any family, we have our problems with one another from time to time. I want to mediate (or at least help mediate) some sort of peace that can see us all shooting and lobbing nades at each other happily again.
Don't ask me which "side" I fall on- if you do, you're looking at this the wrong way. To me, there are no sides, just friends that I need to talk to and help bring back together- not 100% the way they were, as that is impossible. But a new synthesis of old parts? Now that is entirely possible.
In my opinion, this sort of divide can be used for the good of the entire group. Both will need to recruit people to fill holes in HQ, BCT, SWT, liasons, etc. This will also call for promotions for some, and allow new individuals that the CO's think can hack it to step up and shine, maybe surprise us all.
I understand there is resentment and grudges with some members, maybe toward other members or toward the tags (on either side). In a way, this is good and can be helpful if it doesn't get out of hand. These things spur competition, the meat and potatoes of every good realism unit. Everyone, regardless of allegiance, will have the ability to focus on that competition now, instead of having dramatics and retarded butthurt swamping us with a bunch of unnecessary strife.
That said, don't turn this competitive urge into a personal vendetta. This is a game, we're here to have fun, make friends and shoot them in the face, not to create unneeded bullshit.
My aim in this whole matter is not only reuniting friends but keeping the DoD 1.3 realism world alive. I see here great potential to expand it again, maybe regain some of the old glory it used to have.
We have two groups now; same family, different leaders, but the potential to grow two regiments and have them compete against each other is, in my opinion, what this unit has needed for at least a couple of months.
As a personal favor (and I'm posting this in both forums) I would like input from everyone. Keep it constructive and don't be a douche. I won't respond to bullshit posts. Comments, thoughts, questions- it's all welcome.
Colonel Bocek, I request some time to speak at the next unit meeting. My idea is a simple one that, if agreed upon, I believe will help keep the realism community alive, keep this unit together (in a new kind of way) and possibly even see it grow in strength and numbers. And that can't be a bad thing.
*salute*
